Koodlu Theertha

It was quite a special and enthusiastic day for members of TEAM IMPERIALZ as they left out for their first voyage to Seetha Falls (Koodlu Theertha). It was a sunny day, May 26, a Wednesday. Till 10 a.m, the plan was to ride to Kudremukh and surrounding hilly places but unfortunately it was too late to cover the places. At the moment, Seetha Falls seemed to be the better with the remaining time. Within seconds all the members were informed about the sudden change and all were supposed to gather at Avin's house by 11.00 a.m. in Vamanjoor.
Finally at 12.00 p.m we left with our vehicles (Suzuki Fiero, Star City, Honda Activa, HH Pleasure) to the destination. Within a hour we reached Karkal and had our lunch at Hotel Mandara and left the place by 1.45. We thought we had covered half of the journey, but we were wrong as we still had to cover about 50 km. On the way, we stopped near a bridge before Ajekar. Clicked few snaps and moved from there.

Before Ajekar

It was a challenge to ride in narrow roads after Ajekar. As we had two gear less vehicles, it was hard to maintain speed. Yet the desire to reach the falls kept us energetic till the end. In fact, we were enthralled by the blogs and information on web regarding this spot. After reaching Varanga, the next junction was Mudradi, from where we took a right turn. It is around 10 kms from this place to reach a Arch of a temple in Koodlu. The shade of the trees and cold weather accompanied us through out the journey.

Near The Arch.. 17 kms from here

We stopped near the Arch, where an only shop had been located in this area. We had some cold drinks, tender coconuts, biscuits and other junk food. It was the final stage of the tour. We gathered enough information about the spot by the localites and also confirmed there are no interruptions from the policemen. The next 17 kms were the toughest of the day as we didn't find any house or any localite easily. It was like riding without having any hopes of reaching. The bad condition of the road betrayed us and it was tough to maintain road grip. At the end we found a house from where the road ends, which was the beginning of our walk for next half an hour. We parked our vehicles at the house.

The owner promised us to look after the vehicles and also said he would assist us to the spot. We waited for him at the stream nearby, which carried the water from the Seetha Falls! It was too clean and a nice spot to capture pics. As there were no glimpse of the person who promised us to assist, we slightly moved from there.

We thought it is a 5-10 mins walk and we kept walking. Actually, we were climbing a beautiful hill without any directions. Even there was no sound of the water, we were more frightened now. Many of times we thought of quitting and going back home, but if we had done that, we would have lost an opportunity to have a bath in the cold water of Seetha river! We decided to continue and be in a chain until we reach the spot. Even we created marks to locate the way while coming back. After a walk of 25 mins, we could hear the voices of people shouting, but still there was no smell of water and no traces of anyone around. We were sure the spot is nearby, but felt as though we lost the way. At the end, were in front of a beautiful stream around the rocks and in two mins we could see the falls.Everyone were thrilled by the beauty of the falls.

Carefully we were heading towards the falls and found 8 people from Ajekar who were playing in the falls since morning. They gave a brief introduction about themselves and we too did the same. They asked us to have food (Chicken Biriyani) which they prepared there in the noon. It was 4.00 p.m by then. As, we had to leave back early, we could just play for half an hour and soon we changed our dresses and moved towards the centre of the falls. It was best moment of the day! The cold drops of water along with breeze made us remember of the monsoons. We forgot that we were tired and we had to leave back early. After playing for half an hour, we had food offered by the other visitors there. We too shared our snacks with them.
After having food, we were ready to get back to our homes. In a thrilled mood, we left from the spot. Obviously, we decided to come here again. Thus our first voyage will be remembered as a memorable one. In 20 mins we reached the house where we had parked our vehicles. We dressed up and everything was set to return.

We thanked the local people there for their assistance and left from the house. It was 6.30 when we reached the main road. The estimated time to reach home was 10.00 p.m. From then on, nothing stopped us in our journey. We had dinner in one of our friend's house in Moodbidri at 9.00 p.m. At 9.45 p.m we left from there. Finally at 11.00 p.m we reached our homes safely. Truly a memorable day for all the members of TEAM IMPERIALZ!!
